TOM MOLONEY, MD OF CIS, IS FLYING HIGH FOR THE COOMBE

On August 8th 2008, Tom Moloney's colleague Sharon Roche in Construction Information Services (CIS), gave birth to her daughter Georgia prematurely at 24 weeks. Baby Georgia weighed just 670 grams (1lb 7oz) and was put on a ventilator straight away and not given a lot of hope. However, the tremendous efforts by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Coombe Women & Infants Hospital ensured Georgia was given every opportunity to survive and was able to go home with her parents after 3 months in hospital. Today, Georgia is a well-adjusted, happy and entertaining little girl, but more importantly a healthy 26 month old little girl.

Sharon and her partner Jason are endeavouring to give something back to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in recognition for all they did to ensure that their daughter, Georgia, survived and in order to aid them in their fundraising endeavours Tom volunteered to skydive for Friends of the Coombe. WEXFORD’S AGNES CLARE TAKES TO THE SKY FOR THE COOMBE

Friends of the Coombe is the lucky beneficiary of a Wexford woman Agnes Clare’s charity skydive.

Agnes’s Tandem skydive took her 13,000 feet off the ground –(15 minutes flight time) and a hair raising 120mph freefall after to 5,000 feet, when the skydive canopy opened by the Tandem master.

“Friends of the Coombe charity is a very worthy cause and I would very much appreciate support in helping towards buying the Omnibed Giraffe Incubator they badly need, costing €50,000."

Agnes was inspired to become a supporter of Friends of the Coombe because the lives of her great friend Karen Carthy and Ella, her beautiful little girl, were saved by the Coombe’s staff and equipment in April 2007.
